There's no Kendrick without 'i' and no one knows that better than Kendrick Lamar himself.
The Compton, Calif., rapper's latest single, 'i,' dropped Tuesday and Pharrell Williams described it as 'brilliance' on Twitter.
'We got a young brother that stands for something!' the track began. 'We got a young brother that believes in the all of us!'
It is the first single off Lamar's highly anticipated untitled sophomore album and follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut, 'good Kid, m.A.A.d City.'
His lyrics include: 'I done been through a whole lot / Trial, tribulations, but I know God / Satan wanna put me in a bow-tie / Praying that the holy water don't go dry / As I look around me / So many mother---ers wanna down me / But ain't no n---a never drown me / In front of a dirty double-mirror they found me / And I love myself'
K-Dot's self-loving song is currently available for download on iTunes as fans await news on when the album will drop.
Meanwhile, you can be sure to find Lamar in a studio somewhere masterminding his next hit.
'I taught myself to really be in the studio and come up with ideas,' he told Complex magazine in a previous interview. 'Being on the road, you start to become like a robot.'
