Wayne Rooney is ready to take the frustration over his future at Manchester United out on Scotland, claims England captain Steven Gerrard.
Rooney will start up front at Wembley after overcoming a shoulder injury in time for the clash with Gordon Strachan's side. And Gerrard said: 'He's just itching to get out there and play a game.
'He has been frustrated to miss big chunks of pre-season and he is desperate to get these minutes under his belt because he wants to be match fit as soon as possible. There is a lot of spotlight and a lot of added pressure about the decision he is going to make over his future.

'All I'm interested in is what Wayne Rooney is going to be like for England. I am confident he will play well because he is desperate to play his first game.'
Rooney has trained twice without any issues over the swelling between his shoulder blades.
Gerrard, who will win his 103rd cap, has been talking to Rooney about his future during England's preparations for this evening's fixture. The skipper added: 'I've been speaking to him - you know how close I am to Wayne. We've been speaking as mates and stuff. I just try to gauge what his mood is - he's certainly looking forward to the game.
'I remember watching DVDs of Gazza and Bobby Robson talking about him always kicking a ball around the hotel and he can't wait to get on the training ground.Wayne Rooney is exactly the same. That is who I would compare him to.'
Scotland manager Strachan is a Rooney fan too. He said: 'He's absolutely terrific, he's got work-rate, ability. He has the devil inside him that has to win games.'
