Gareth Bale's progression into a superstar of world football has taken another small step after he was selected to appear on the front cover of FIFA 14.
Bale has been chosen alongside Lionel Messi to be the new face of the popular video game from EA Sports, which reflects his growing stature.
Past cover stars include Wayne Rooney, Kaka and Ronaldinho, who were all at the peak of their powers at the top of the game at the time.

'To be on the front cover is a massive honour,' said Bale. 'When you look at the calibre of players that have been on there in the past they are legends of the game, so for me to be here now is a dream come true.'
Bale is wanted across Europe after his sensational displays for Spurs last season, which earned him both the PFA and Football Writers' player of the year awards.
Manchester United are ready to splurge on a world-class player like Bale, after the club admitted they would back David Moyes if he wants to sign a 'stellar player' this summer.

New manager Moyes has only made one signing so far this summer, with Guillermo Varela joining for an undisclosed fee.
But the club's chief executive Ed Woodward insists the resources are there to recruit top-drawer talent and said they are 'absolutely' able to compete for players in the £60million-£70m bracket, which would include Bale.

Bale will appear on the cover of the game in UK, Ireland and the Middle East, which launches on September 27.
The game is available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
