Teddy Bridgewater's second career start is being put on hold. The rookie quarterback will be listed as inactive for Minnesota's game against Green Bay on Thursday night. Bridgewater confirmed to ESPN.com that he wouldn't be playing against the Packers.
With Bridgewater out, that means Christian Ponder will be making his first start since December 2013 in a game that will be televised on CBS. Ponder started a total of nine games for the Vikings last season and went 2-6-1 in those starts.
Two of Ponder's starts came against the Packers and 28-year-old quarterback didn't look terrible. In a Week 12 game that ended in a 26-26 tie, Ponder completed 70 percent of his passes (21 of 30) for 233 yards and a touchdown. Ponder has a 1-4-1 career record against the Packers.
As for Bridgewater, he won't get to build on the success he had in his career start. The rookie quarterback threw for 317 yards in a 41-28 win over Minnesota on Sunday. Bridgewater also added 27 yards on the ground, including a 13-yard touchdown run before going down with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter.
