George Clooney, Hollywood's most famous bachelor of our time, is not laying low on the eve of his wedding. Instead, the actor and his gorgeous lawyer fiancée
Amal Alamuddin were spotted on Friday-smiling, laughing, and sharing many a public display of affection as they sped down the Grand Canal on a taxi boat appropriately named Amore. They were joined on board by Clooney's close friends
Cindy Crawford and her husband
Rande Gerber, and were flanked on the canal by a flotilla of photographers. Dear readers, the prying camera lenses did not seem to dampen the mood of the soon-to-be bride and groom.
People reports that the couple was en route to the Belmond Hotel Cipriani, where they will be hosting a welcome gathering for their friends and wedding guests. Us reports that 'a lavish rehearsal dinner' will also take place at the same hotel tonight. The Telegraph adds that the hotel is a favorite of the actor's, so much so that he has learned the names of its staff members during his visits over the last 15 years.
The wedding itself is expected to take place on Saturday at the Aman Canal Grande. The Associate Press reports that the city of Venice will block off walkways (including one along the Grand Canal) for two hours on Monday, when Clooney and Alamuddin are expected to hold a small civil ceremony at the 16th-century Cavalli Palace.
Many of Clooney's friends have descended on the Italian city for the event thus far, including

John Krasinski,
Emily Blunt,
Richard Kind, and
Ellen Barkin.
