Charles managed just three touches before leaving the game -- two carries for four yards, and one receptions for eight yards. As long as he is sitting, backup Knile Davis is expected to handle the Chiefs' rushing load. Davis is already off to a good start, with three carries for 26 yards.
Losing Charles for any extended period of time would be a major blow to the Chiefs. The running back was one of the most explosive and versatile players at his position last season. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry on his way to 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground, and added 693 yards and seven touchdowns on 70 receptions.
Charles' injury continues what has been a brutal day for major injuries to big-name players across the NFL. Robert Griffin III, DeSean Jackson, A.J. Green and Knowshon Moreno are among the names that were forced out of Week 2 matchups.
