During surgical procedure on her throat at a clinic, 81-year-old Joan Rivers stopped breathing and was immediately taken to a New York City hospital, TMZ reported Monday.
The longtime TV personality and comedian, whose humor takes jabs at celebrities and fashion, was reportedly transported from the clinic to a Mount Sinai Hospital near upper Central Park in Manhattan.
A spokesperson for Mount Sinai told Mashable that the hospital had 'no comment' at the time and would not confirm whether Rivers was a patient there.
Rivers was in 'cardiac or respiratory arrest,' TMZ reported, citing a call someone made to the hospital Monday morning to report Rivers condition before she was rushed to Mount Sinai. This story is developing ...
